Telescopic Ramps

Telescopic ramps are supplied as a pair and are typically the lightest type of portable wheelchair ramp available. They come in a variety of designs, including telescopic options suitable for steps and doorways. Combination ramps are also available, offering greater versatility as they can be used both as straight ramps and for bridging door thresholds. This makes them an ideal choice for those seeking a practical multipurpose access solution.

Channel ramps are available in lengths from 4ft to 12ft, allowing users to overcome heights up to 600mm.

The compact design makes channel ramps ideal for those with limited storage space and for those seeking to transport the ramp in the car boot. The narrow design of the ramp is ideal for using the ramps to overcome narrow doorways. Some models are adjustable in length, ideal for use in a variety of locations.

For assisted wheelchair users, it is important to consider suitability, as it can be more difficult to push a wheelchair up a pair of channel ramps where attention to footing is required.

Due to their design, channel ramps are best suited to manual wheelchairs. The raised safety edges on either side can prevent mobility scooters and electric wheelchairs with low ground clearance from safely using the ramps.

Carbon Ramps

Carbon Fibre wheelchair ramps are extremely lightweight as carbon fibre is naturally low-density element. Despite the weight, they are extremely lightweight and durable making them a reliable solution. It is an ideal solution for businesses looking to ensure full accessibility for all users while also allowing staff to lift and position the ramp safely in line with manual handling requirements.

Carbon is more expensive than aluminium solutions.

Multi-fold Wheelchair Ramps

Suitable for wheelchairs, mobility scooters, and powered wheelchairs, multi-fold wheelchair ramps are available in lengths of up to 10ft.

These ramps are supplied as two separate sections that connect together to form one wide ramp when in use, providing a stable surface for access. When the ramp needs to be lifted, moved, or stored, it can be easily separated into two lighter sections, making it much easier to carry and handle.

When not in use, the ramp folds like a book.

Splits in two to make it easier to carry and store, each half includes a carry handle. Offers capacities up to 250kg and a useable width of 732mm making it suitable for most mobility aids.

At longer lengths, for example 9ft, each ramp is still 10.3kg which may not be suitable for some.

Joining Supports for Wheelchair Ramps

Joining supports allow users to connect two wheelchair ramps together to create a longer ramp. This is particularly useful for those who require a longer ramp but may find a single longer ramp too heavy or difficult to handle.

For example, if a user needs a 12ft ramp but finds it difficult to carry or cannot find a suitable single piece option, they can instead use two 6ft ramps with a joining support to connect them. This creates the required overall length while still providing a smooth, safe gradient for access.

Joining supports are adjustable in height to allow you to achieve a safe slope. They are also beneficial in areas when storage space is limited.

It can also be a cost-effective option, as in some cases it may be cheaper to purchase two shorter ramps and a joining support rather than a single long ramp. This is especially beneficial when the exact ramp length required is not readily available, as a joining support allows users to connect ramps together to create the desired length.

Only compatible with certain wheelchair ramps. Cannot be used with telescopic wheelchair ramps.

1. For assisted manual wheelchairs we would recommend a minimum gradient of 1:6. For example, for a 1 foot rise (load height) you'll need a 6 foot long ramp.

2. For unassisted wheelchairs, mobility scooters and walkers we recommend a minimum gradient of 1:8. For example, for a 1 foot rise (load height) you'll need a 8 foot long ramp (Mobility scooter ramps need to be longer due to the low ground clearance).
